Describe your job role and the kinds of projects/clients you work with.
Most of my career has focused on editing commercials and branded content, occasionally working on music videos and feature docs. Some of my favorite projects include campaigns for Chevy, Princeton, Target, and Google.
What does an average day look like in your post-production working world?
Each day starts with a to-do list that breaks down tasks for the current project, which is especially important for me because of my ADHD. Most days, it’s like a superpower and I can hyper-focus and operate on autopilot, easily tackling tasks and crafting the edit. However, some days can be more of a struggle, which is why having a structured approach with to-do lists and deadlines is essential to keeping me on track. Depending on where we are with the current project, some of the things I may be working on that day are pulling b-roll selects, working on the AV script, sourcing music, addressing client notes, or meeting with the director to brainstorm or talk through something.
How did your career in post production begin?
My career in post-production began after college when my friends and I started working on each other’s projects on weekends—music videos, short films, and experimental pieces—staying up all night to edit and collaborate. By the time I moved to New York a few years later, I was proficient in Premiere and continued to work on various projects while creating my own art. An old friend who attended a premiere of a music video I directed asked if I could edit, as he was a director at a boutique production company in dumbo. I accepted the opportunity, and before I knew it, I was in a sleek edit suite cutting a Google ad. It was a fortunate break and a significant learning experience, but my editing skills and instincts were essential in making that project successful.
What has been your career highlight?
A career highlight for me was my time at Warner Bros. Discovery’s branded content studio, Courageous, where I spent 6+ years editing campaigns for brands like Chevy, Target, Expedia, Range Rover, and Ancestry. Contributing to these stories was incredibly rewarding, and I’m grateful for the bonds I formed with my colleagues—some of the most talented individuals I’ve ever met. The relationships I built there have led to lifelong friendships, making that experience even more special.
Who are your role models in post?
Mah Ferraz is incredible and her work is always insane and an inspiration. But I'm mostly inspired every day by all the badass women I work with. Anais Blondet, Merete Meuller, Mahala Gaylord, Elaine Casap, Christine Carone, Hailey Gavin, Jillian La Vinka, Nino Shengelaia- literally so many amazing women. Look them up! I'm not kidding, they're incredible and I feel so lucky!
What advice do you have for others wanting to start a career in post?
Put yourself out there and work on as many projects as you can when you're starting out. Keep creating art, find a supportive community, and most importantly, have fun! Remember, it’s okay to have bad days; I still do, so give yourself grace and don’t be too hard on yourself. Embrace mistakes as part of the journey. Ask questions, watch things that inspire you, and keep pushing forward—those clichés about perseverance are true!
